The Whiting Public Library has a collection of books on a variety of subjects available for the public to use while in the library. These books include but are not limited to Encyclopedias, Almanacs, Dictionaries, Law Books, Medical Journals and much more. Reference books can be accessed in both the Adult and Children's departments.
In addition to our Reference Collection, the Whiting Public Library has a Local History Room. The Local History Room has a collection of old newspaper articles, photographs and city directories to search through.
World Book Online is a database provided to our patrons free-of-charge. The online version of the encyclopedia is the same great resource that we have come to expect from World Book only better. Users can access interactive records, videos and full text entries.

The Whiting Pubic Library also provides patrons access to Inspire.IN.gov. INSPIRE is a collection of academic databases and other information resources. INSPIRE includes the following content: magazine and journal articles, websites, pamphlets, images, almanacs, library catalogs, and more.
